Marquette man accused of break-in, stealing dog

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police are investigating a case of home invasion in the city. 

Wednesday around 5:10 p.m. officers were called to 540 West Ridge Street on a report that someone had broken into the residence and taken a dog. 

Willie Sims, 21, was developed as a person of interest.  Officers say there was also an arrest warrant out for him on an unrelated charge.  Police contacted Sims at his residence, arrested him on the warrant, and located the stolen dog. 

Sims is lodged at the Marquette County Jail.  The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case for charges.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
