MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Champion Township man has been arrested in connection with a series of home break-ins in Marquette Township.

Wednesday morning a concerned resident called 911 to report a suspicious man riding a bicycle near an unoccupied house near Erickson and Badger Streets.  A Marquette County Sheriff’s deputy investigated and found the 26-year-old man in possession of several items stolen from the house, including the bike.  The man was also in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana, prescription drugs and cocaine.

The suspect later provided information about other B&E’s in the area.  Deputies say most of the crimes consisted of stolen drugs and money.  The suspect also used the ruse of looking for a lost dog.

The suspect has been charged with possession of cocaine (felony), possession of marijuana (misdemeanor), illegal possession of a Schedule II prescription drug (felony), and property crimes charges yet to be determined.

Anyone who believes they may have had contact with the suspect is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 225-8434.
