Ontonagon man jailed for attempted murder

ONTONAGON, MI--   An Ontonagon man is in custody on several felony charges, including attempted murder.

The Sheriff’s Office says Timothy Wayne Pietila, 51, was arraigned on that charge, along with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault by strangulation, and felony firearms. 

Pietila remains jailed without bond. 

No further details are available as the incident remains under investigation.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers and Michigan State Police.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
