WI suspect killed by police after chase, shot fired at officer

ANTIGO, WI (AP)--   Authorities say an armed suspect has been killed by police after a standoff and pursuit that began after shots were fired at an officer.

The Tuesday morning incident began in Antigo.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says an officer was shot at during a traffic stop, and a high-speed chase followed, WSAW-TV reported.

The suspect was stopped in the Township of Pine River, but stayed armed during an hour-long standoff.

The suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement. A statement from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says more details will be released later.
