Arrests made in Soo heroin/opiate ring

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force has arrested four Chippewa County residents on drug charges.

Tri-DENT has been investigating a heroin and opiates ring in the county for the past few months.  On Saturday a search warrant was executed at a Maple Street residence in Sault Ste. Marie.  Heroin, morphine, several other prescription drugs, and suspected hash oil were seized, along with digital scales and money.

Police say before the search they also conducted multiple drug buys.  They believe the drugs are being brought up from lower Michigan to sell on Soo streets.

Arrested on several counts were Edward Willis, Jr. and Adam Glaser.  Charges included delivery of heroin, delivery of morphine, and operating a drug house.  Also arrested were Kurtis Bruni and Krysta Fike for possession of heroin.

Officials say more arrests are likely.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
