Wolf poached in Stambaugh Township

STAMBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Department of Natural Resources is looking for information on a wolf poaching in Iron County. 

Officials say the female wolf was found on the side of East Brule Lake Road in Stambaugh Township on January 22.  The cause of death appeared to be a gunshot wound. 

The DNR says the wolf was likely killed in the early morning hours of January 22, then moved to the roadside between noon and 2 p.m. the same day.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
