Marquette woman jailed for firing weapon during argument

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette woman is jailed, after a shot was fired during a domestic incident Tuesday morning. 

Around 11 a.m. City Police were dispatched to the 100 block of East Fair Avenue in response to a possible domestic assault in progress. When officers arrived they learned a weapon had been brought into the incident, and during a struggle over the weapon a shot was fired into a wall.  No one was injured.

Amber Suggitt, 32, was arrested for felonious assault and lodged in the Marquette County Jail. 

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be sought.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
