UNDATED - A report of road rage in the eastern U-P has lead to the apprehension of a convicted felon and the seizure of drugs and a handgun. Chippewa County Sheriff’s Deputies say the department received a call Wednesday about a road rage incident in the Detour area. The caller reported being run off the road by the suspect vehicle and that the male driver pointed a handgun at him.
Sheriff’s deputies along with a US Border Patrol unit found the suspect vehicle on M-134 just east of M-48 in Detour. The driver, 30-year old Christopher Wayne Strine, of Jackson, was arrested for driving on a suspended license.
Officials executed a search warrant on the vehicle and found several pieces of evidence of a crime, including a 45-calibur handgun, several prescription drugs and marijuana. After further investigation, it was found that Strine was a convicted felon, and he was in possession of a loaded 45-calibur handgun not registered in his name.
Strine was arraigned on multiple felony firearms charges, including Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was also charged with multiple felony drug charges including smuggling drugs into a correctional facility. Strine was lodged in the Chippewa County jail on $25,000 bond.
