Men arrested for shooting property from car

MARQUETTE, MI--   Three Marquette men have been arrested for damaging property by shooting an air rifle out of a car.

April 24 around 2 a.m. officers received a report that the occupants of a suspicious vehicle were shooting windows out of cars in North Marquette with a pneumatic gun. City Police and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department received more than 30 reports of vehicles, houses, and outbuildings being damaged in the city and Marquette Township.

Officers say Seth Gustafson, 19, Jay Oberg, 18, and Justin Zyburt, 19—all of Marquette—are each charged with malicious destruction of personal property between $1,000 and $20,000; felony firearms—pneumatic gun; and possession of a loaded firearm in or upon a vehicle.

Each remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $3,500 bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
