Date rape drugs may be at Northern Michigan University

MARQUETTE, MI--   NMU’s Public Safety Department is warning students about the possible presence of “date rape” drugs on and around campus.

Officers say extreme caution should be used at any social gathering. For safety, they’re telling the campus community to use the “buddy system;” only take refreshments from those you trust; do not leave your drink unattended; get help from bystanders, if necessary; and call 911 if you’re in immediate danger.

Anyone who has information on the distribution of illegal drugs is asked to call Public Safety at 227-2151.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
