Man arrested in Marquette for sexually assaulting juvenile

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Chippewa County man has been arrested on a five-count felony warrant out of the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.

Marquette City Police say Brandon Vert, 32, was taken into custody Monday following an investigation into incidents reported in May of 2017. Vert allegedly met the juvenile victim on a social media dating site.

Vert was arrested for 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct—sexual penetration with person 13 to 15 years of age; assault with intent to commit sexual penetration; 2nd-degree assault; accosting a minor for immoral purposes; and 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct—victim 13 to 15 years old.

Marquette Police were assisted by the county Sheriff’s Office and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
