Shooting victim found in Chippewa County

TROUT LAKE, MI--   Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident in Chippewa County.

Saturday around 4 p.m. troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded to a rental cabin in Trout Lake. 

Officers secured the scene and took one suspect into custody. One victim was found at the scene and was deceased.

The incident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Sault Tribal Police, Chippewa Township EMS, detectives from the Soo and Negaunee posts, and the MSP Grayling Forensic Lab.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
