UPDATE: Ishpeming Police search for drive-by shooting subjects

UPDATE: Police say they have located and interviewed every subject. Each denied any involvement in the incident and was released.

ISHPEMING, MI--   The Ishpeming Police Department is looking for individuals considered to be people of interest in a drive-by shooting.

Tuesday around 10 p.m. officers were called to 635 Iron Street on a report of gunshots. They discovered a drive-by shooting had occurred. The suspects fled the scene in a Buick that was later discovered abandoned.

Police are looking for Brandon Schiefel, 24, of Ishpeming, Michael Fletcher, Jr., 29, of Marquette, and Alicia Kerkela, 26, of Ishpeming.

A search of the area was completed by officers with assistance from the Michigan State Police and Marquette County Sheriff’s Office. Several homes within the city were searched.

Around 7 a.m. Wednesday officers received a tip that the suspects were hiding in a residence in Phelps Square Apartments. Officers searched the apartment but didn’t find any of the suspects.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of the people of interest to call Ishpeming Police at 486-4416 or 911.

The incident remains under investigation.
