Man nabbed for drug possession after traffic stop

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique man is lodged in the Schoolcraft County jail for possession of cocaine. 

Last Friday a Manistique Department of Public Safety officer stopped Gregory Reed, 42, on Chippewa Avenue. A Public Safety K-9 alerted on the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cocaine and $1,662 in cash.

On Monday Reed was arraigned on one count of possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, heroin or other narcotic – less than 25 grams.

Reed remains lodged on a $2,500 bond.

A probable cause hearing is set for March 6, and a preliminary exam for March 11 in 93rd District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
