GLADSTONE, MI-- Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post say some residents are reporting getting fraudulent phone calls.
The phone number on the caller ID appears to be local and has “Michigan State Police” listed as the name. The caller asks the resident to update their credit card information.
Officials say the call is a scam. Using technology to make a number appear local and legitimate is called “spoofing.”
Troopers say neither the Michigan State Police nor any other police agency will ever ask for financial information from you over the telephone.
