Woman arrested for stabbing another twice at McClain State Park

HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI--   A woman was reportedly stabbed during an argument over a dog at McLain State Park in Houghton County over the weekend. 

Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post determined the 27-year-old victim had been stabbed on two occasions with a knife. They say an altercation had occurred over a dog that was running loose on the beach.

The victim suffered a large laceration to the abdomen and a small puncture wound to the bicep. The injuries were not life-threatening but did require immediate medical attention. She was taken to Aspirus Hospital in Calumet for treatment.  

The suspect was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Houghton County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. Her name will not be released until her arraignment in 97th District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
