Man arrested in Houghton County for fleeing police

HOUGHTON, MI--   The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office chased a suspect through a portion of the county over the weekend. 

Saturday around 11:10 p.m. a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on US-41 in Calumet Township. The driver took off. A chase ensued through the Village of Laurium and ended in Florida Location.

A 29-year-old man was taken into custody and lodged at the Houghton County Jail. He’s charged with felony fleeing and eluding and driving on a suspended license.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
