Teen in custody for Menominee school threat

MENOMINEE, MI--   A school in Menominee was put on lockdown Wednesday morning following a possible threat.

City Police say Blesch Intermediate School was put on yellow alert. Students and staff sheltered in place as law enforcement responded and found the site secure.

Officers say upon further investigation a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody for making a threat. They say, however, the school, students, staff and public were never in imminent danger.

The situation remains under investigation and it is believed that no one else is involved.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
