Mailboxes hit with object in Republic Township

REPUBLIC TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of mailbox damage in Republic Township.

The incident happened Friday just after 10 p.m. along Fence River Road. A resident heard several loud bangs and the sound of a vehicle or ATV speeding off down the road. He found his mailbox had been damaged by a baseball bat or similar object.

Two other such complaints have been filed with the sheriff’s office. The investigating deputy said other mailboxes may have been damaged but not reported to the police.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office at 225-8434.
