Repeat drunk drivers arrested in Chippewa County

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, MI--   Troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie post arrested two people for repeated drunk driving last week.

Friday just after 7 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle on M-221 near 6 Mile Road in Bay Mills Township. The driver—a 40-year-old Brimley woman—was arrested for operating while intoxicated – 3rd offense, possession of cocaine and driving on a suspended license.

Saturday around 10:50 a.m. a sergeant made a traffic stop on M-28 near South High Banks Road in Superior Township. Following an investigation the 47-year-old driver—a Brimley man—was also arrested for operating while intoxicated – 3rd offense and for transporting open intoxicants in the vehicle.

Both drivers were lodged in the Chippewa County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
