Police arrest suspect for stealing change jar

IRONWOOD, MI--   An Ironwood man has been arrested for stealing a donation jar from a local business.

Monday around 12:40 p.m. Central Dispatch received a call that a change jar had been taken from the Northwinds Natural Food Co-op. Ironwood Public Safety, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department, the Hurley Police Department and Michigan State Police responded.

A clerk’s description and video footage of the subject as he fled the scene led police to a 19-year-old Ironwood resident. He was located around 1:30 p.m. and arrested for larceny.

The man remains lodged in the Gogebic County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
