Police pursuit in Escanaba leads to arrest of Menominee County man

ESCANABA, MI--   A Wilson man is jailed, following a chase by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday around 11:20 p.m. a deputy was in the Escanaba Meijer when an employee said a retail fraud had just occurred. The deputy went to the parking lot and saw the suspect vehicle leaving the area. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver took off.

Police pursued the vehicle until 14th Road near M-69, when the driver pulled over and fled on foot. The suspect was found in the woods about two hours later and taken into custody. He was lodged in the Delta County Jail on multiple charges.

Deputies were assisted by the Sheriff’s Office K-9, a Michigan State Police K-9, Hannaville Tribal Police and the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
