MSP employee arrested for criminal sexual conduct

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A supervisor at the Negaunee Regional Communications Center has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct.

An investigation of Brian McEachern’s off-duty activity was launched by Michigan State Police detectives after a complaint was received December 20, 2020. McEachern was subsequently charged with first- and fourth-degree CSC.

Police say if there are other victims who want to come forward with information, they can contact Detective Sergeant Chris Bracket at 906-774-2122.

McEachern has been employed by the MSP since December 6, 1992. He was suspended from his job on January 6 and will remain on suspension pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

The Michigan State Police released the following:

“The MSP has a long-standing tradition of demanding the highest possible standards of professional conduct from its enforcement and civilian members. Regardless of whether a criminal charge results in a conviction, employees can still be subject to administrative penalties resulting from violations of department policy.”

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
