Suspect jailed after Newberry home invasion

NEWBERRY, MI— One person was arrested for home invasion in Newberry over the weekend.

Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post were dispatched Sunday around 7:50 p.m. to a residence on a report someone had entered it while the homeowner was there. An altercation took place between the intruder and the homeowner, then the intruder fled the scene.

Troopers found the suspect at a local hospital after the person sought treatment for wounds received in the altercation.

The suspect was eventually arrested for 1st-degree home invasion and lodged in the Luce County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
