Escanaba schools locked down after man calls in threat

ESCANABA, MI— An Escanaba man has been arrested for making a threat towards the high school.

Friday around 9:20 a.m. Escanaba Public Safety responded to the school on a threat complaint. Escanaba Public Schools were placed on external lockdown until officers completed their investigation.

Police determined a 31-year-old city resident had called one of the school offices and made a specific threat. He was arrested and lodged in the Delta County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

The suspect’s name has not been released, pending arraignment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
