Woman shot to death in Houghton County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, MI— Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are investigating a homicide in Houghton County’s Franklin Township.

Troopers responded Monday at about 2:20 p.m. to a house on Quincy Street on a report of a shooting. They and deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and found a 38-year-old woman deceased.

Members of the 8th-District Special Investigations Section and the MSP Marquette Crime Lab later responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of an 18-year-old man on suspicion of open homicide. He remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail pending arraignment.

This case remains under investigation.

No further information will be released at this time.
