Eastern UP man brought back from Georgia to face charges of CSC with a child

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A former Kincheloe resident has been arrested in Savannah, Georgia for sexually assaulting a child.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office starting investigating 53-year-old James Morris in the spring of 2021. A nationwide search found Morris in a Georgia jail on a separate offense.

Deputies drove to Savannah and brought Morris back to Michigan, where he was charged with 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of
2nd degree CSC, two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration-child, and habitual offender – 4th offense.

Morris remains lodged in the Chippewa County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
