MARQUETTE, MI— A Republic man has been arrested for possessing child pornography.
The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That resulted in a search of 60-year-old Brian Suomi’s home. The search netted evidence, including multiple internet-capable devices.
Suomi is charged with 12 counts of child sexually abusive material and 12 counts of using a computer to commit a crime. He was arraigned Friday in Marquette County District Court.
If convicted, Suomi faces up to 20 years in prison for each of the 24 counts.
