(Gogebic County, MI) - Three people have been arrested following drug busts in Gogebic County.
On Friday, The Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team (GIANT) executed a search warrant on Alice Street in Bessemer Township and another search warrant on Palms Road in Bessemer. Officers found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and US currency in both locations… and a .40 caliber pistol was found at the Alice Street residence. Twenty-seven-year old Michael S. Johnson and 40-year old Lynn E. Chapman were taken into custody after the Alice Street search, and 32- year old Anthony J. Negi was arrested at the Palms Road residence. All three suspects face charges of ‘delivery of methamphetamine’ and ‘conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine.’ Johnson was also charged with delivery of heroin, delivery of heroin within 1-thousand feet of a park, maintaining a drug house, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Negi was also charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, and child abuse 4th degree for intentionally placing his child in unreasonable risk of harm or physical injury. All three suspects are lodged in the Gogebic County jail. Johnson’s bond is set at $500,000, Chapman’s is set at $200,000 and Negi’s is set at $100,000
The Michigan Department of Corrections has also placed a hold on Johnson as he is on parole from a 2016 drug conviction, and there is also a warrant out for Chapman in Vilas (VIGH-luss) County, Wisconsin, on unrelated charges.
The GIANT Team is continuing its investigation and further charges and arrests are possible.
