Houghton County man arrested in connection with child sexually abusive activity

CHASSELL, MI— A Chassell man has been arrested on charges related to child pornography.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That led to the Houghton County residence of 18-year-old Kyle Britz. A search warrant was executed and digital evidence was seized.

Britz is charged with six counts of using a computer to commit a crime, three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and three counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity.

Britz was arraigned in 97th District Court on July 20. He faces up to life in prison if convicted as charged.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
