GAASTRA, MI— Michigan State Police are looking for the suspect involved in an attack on an Iron County teen.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post say Monday around 6 a.m., an 18-year-old Gaastra woman was out for a run on Bates/Gaastra Road just north of Gaastra when a man attacked her. She was able to fight him off and get away.

The suspect is described as a 5’8”, 220-pound white male in his 20s with short, light red hair and freckles and moles on his face. He was driving a silver passenger car—possibly a Ford.

State Police are requesting residents in the area check their home security footage. Anyone with information regarding the attack is asked to call the Iron Mountain Post at 906-774-2122.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
