MUNISING, MI— A Gladstone man was arrested for trying to have sex with a minor in Alger County.
The Sheriff’s Office hosted coalition partners of the U.P. Human Oppression Strike Team and set up operations to identify and arrest consumers of child sex crimes in the county.
Police say a 38-year-old man chatted with undercover agents posing as minors and later showed up at a Munising hotel. He had a form of payment to allegedly have sex with a 15-year-old. He brought alcohol and a pack of condoms with him.
Police arrested Clifford Kaja, 38. He’s charged with accosting a child for immoral purposes, using a computer to commit a crime, and selling/furnishing alcohol to a minor.
He remains lodged in the Alger County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
