Man arrested for 2 robbery attempts in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE, MI— A Negaunee man was arrested Wednesday after he tried to rob a bank and a grocery store.

Around 4:30 p.m. City Police were dispatched to the Embers Credit Union on a report of an unarmed robbery attempt. As officers arrived at the scene, a second unarmed robbery attempt was reported at Super One Foods in Negaunee.

The suspect—a 58-year-old Negaunee man—was located and arrested for both incidents. He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

No employees at either location were harmed and no money or property was stolen.

Michigan State Police, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, and Ishpeming Police Department assisted at the scenes.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
