Negaunee man charged with child sexually abusive activity

MARQUETTE, MI— A Marquette County man has been arrested on charges related to child pornography.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force says John James Lyons, 31, of Negaunee was apprehended following an investigation. It was launched when officials learned Lyons was viewing files of child sexually abusive material on the internet. Digital evidence was seized from his home.

Lyons is charged with six counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, five counts of child sexually abusive activity, and 11 counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

He was arraigned in 96th District Court on Tuesday and released on a personal recognizance bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
