Soo man arrested for exchanging drugs for sex

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A Sault Sainte Marie man has been arrested on human trafficking and drug charges.

Since last fall, TRIDENT has been investigating Cody McCoy, 30. Officials say he’s been supplying drugs to women with addictions to obtain sex through coercion.

Search warrants conducted over the past few months resulted in the seizure of meth, prescription drugs, and tens of thousands of videos spanning several years.

McCoy has been arraigned on the following charges:

  • 3 counts of human trafficking, forced labor
  • possession of meth
  • possession with intent to deliver meth
  • 3 counts of delivery of meth
  • 3rd degree criminal sexual assault
  • 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • being a habitual offender, 4th offense

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office expects to uncover other victims in the case, which remains under investigation.
