Grand Marais man arrested for firing weapon outside

GRAND MARAIS, MI— The Alger County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discharge of a firearm in Grand Marais last month.

February 27th around 11 p.m., a 911 call reported a man had fired a weapon in the vicinity of Webb Road. The suspect, Cord Spencer, was taken into custody for resisting and obstructing an officer, reckless discharge of a firearm while intoxicated, and disorderly conduct.

Spencer was lodged at the Alger County Jail. He posted bond on March 3rd.

Michigan State Police assisted with the arrest.

The incident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
