Soo hospital receives threat, locks down

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— The MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie went on lockdown Tuesday, after someone made threats against it.

Around 1:30 p.m., Chippewa County Central Dispatch received information someone had made a threat of violence with a firearm toward the hospital. The Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fire Departments responded and provided security.

Investigation revealed the suspect who made the alleged threats was on Sugar Island. No arrests were made, and officials say there was no threat to public safety.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.

The Michigan State Police, Border Patrol, and Sault Tribe Police Department assisted at the scene.
