Investigation into Superior Central school threat nets teen suspect

Nicole Walton

EBEN JUNTION, MI— An Alger County juvenile has been apprehended, following a threat to Superior Central Schools last week.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post received information about the threat on Tuesday. They say a 15-year-old made a statement about bringing a gun to school the next day.

Out of an abundance of caution, troopers notified Superior Central personnel that evening and were at school the following day while the investigation continued.

The alleged suspect was under supervision until a petition was issued through the Alger County Prosecutor’s Office. The juvenile was apprehended Friday for making threats against the school.

Due to the age of the suspect, their name will not be released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
