SUGAR ISLAND, MI— An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Chippewa County for shooting another man in the shoulder.

Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded Thursday to the emergency department on a report of a man with a gunshot wound. After some investigation, officers found the incident happened around 6:15 that evening on Sugar Island. They executed a search warrant the next day at a residence on South Brasser Road and arrested an 18-year-old man.

The suspect is charged with assault causing great bodily harm less than murder.
