Marinette Police looking for suspect vehicle in fatal car-bicycle crash

UPDATE: A person of interest has been identified and the suspect vehicle located.

MARINETTE, WI— A bicyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Marinette on Saturday.

County Dispatch received a call around 2:18 a.m. that the rider was struck on the US-41 Interstate Bridge.

Officers found an unresponsive 48-year-old man and started lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld, pending notification of family.

Police are trying to locate a suspect vehicle that fled the scene. Authorities are asking the public to please contact the Marinette Police Department with any information at (715) 732-5200.

Assisting at the scene were the Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area EMS, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, Menominee Fire Department, and Menominee Police Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
