Police arrest WI man for driving to Iron Mountain to have sex with a minor

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— A 59-year-old man is jailed without bond for sexually assaulting a minor in Iron Mountain.

On July 12, the Iron Mountain Police Department received a report that a man had driven from southern Wisconsin several days earlier to meet up with a juvenile from the area. The man took the juvenile to a local motel and sexually assaulted them.

On July 21, the suspect tried to contact the juvenile, but started communicating with an IMPD officer, instead. The man once again traveled to Iron Mountain, believing he was going to meet up with the juvenile a second time. The suspect was lured to a safe location in Iron Mountain, where police arrested him.

The suspect was lodged in the Dickinson County Jail without bond. His name has not been released, pending arraignment.

The investigation remains open.
