Driver arrested after pedestrians struck by vehicle in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI— Three people were injured when a drunk driver hit some pedestrians and a parked car in Marquette on Saturday.

Officers from the Marquette Police Department were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. to the area of North Third Street near West Michigan Street. Two people had been struck by a vehicle, and several others were nearly hit, as well.

One of the pedestrians was taken to UPHS-Marquette. The other declined treatment.

After the pedestrian collision, the suspect’s vehicle reportedly struck a parked car on the 200 block of West Ridge Street. Officers found 27-year-old Jared Hunt of Marquette injured and lying outside his vehicle in that area.

Hunt was arrested for operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury and taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. Arraignment is set for August 7th in Marquette County District Court.

Assisting officers were the Marquette Fire Department, UPHS-Marquette EMS, and the Michigan State Police.
