Wells man facing child sexually abusive material charges

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— A Delta County man has been arrested for viewing child pornography on the internet.

Alex Wigand, 32, of Wells, is charged with four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force initiated an investigation when police learned Wigand was viewing child pornography on the internet. A search warrant executed at his residence resulted in the seizure of digital evidence.

Wigand faces up to 30 years in prison, if convicted as charged.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit was assisted by the MSP Gladstone Post, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
