Newberry traffic stop leads to the arrest of 6 people

NEWBERRY, MI— Five people have been arrested in Luce County on felony drug charges.

Tuesday around 12:30 a.m., Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post made a traffic stop in Newberry. Investigation led to the discovery of suspected meth in the vehicle.

Police executed a search warrant at a Newberry residence and found a large amount of meth.

Five suspects were arrested on drug charges. A sixth was arrested for violation of a court order.

All were lodged in the Luce County Jail, pending arraignment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
