Director of GINCC accused of embezzlement

ISHPEMING, MI— Felony charges have been filed against the executive director of the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.

Samantha LaJeunesse, 34, is accused of stealing money from the organization. She’s charged with embezzlement by an agent or trustee of $20,000 or more, using a computer to commit a crime, and illegal use of a financial transaction device or credit card.

The offense allegedly occurred on August 8th of this year. The Ishpeming Police Department started investigating the incident in late September. On September 28th, the GINCC said it was temporarily closing “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

LaJeunesse will be arraigned December 6th in Marquette District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
