Shooting in Curtis leads to arrest of 2 suspects

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, MI— Two people were arrested in Mackinac County Tuesday, following a shooting in Portage Township.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 4:30 p.m. to the Curtis Travelers Lodge on a report a woman had shot her husband. A physical altercation took place between two men at the scene as deputies responded.

One of the men and the woman left the scene in a Jeep, leaving the shooting victim. The suspects were later found at a nearby residence and arrested.

The victim was taken to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital with a graze wound to his head. He’s expected to fully recover.

The suspects remain lodged in the Mackinac County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
