MARQUETTE, MI— An Ishpeming man has been arraigned on dozens of counts related to child sexually abusive activity.
On October 10th of last year, Ishpeming Police went to a house on East Division Street on a report a 32-year-old man was with a 15-year-old girl. James Schwarten was arrested on three counts of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct.
During the investigation, his cell phone was found to contain child sexually abusive material. Officers executed a search warrant and confiscated several more electronic devices, which contained more evidence.
Schwarten was arraigned Wednesday on 25 counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity and 26 counts of using a computer to commit a crime. He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $510,000 bond.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for February 8th and a preliminary exam for February 14th.
