Driver facing 15 charges following police chase from Gwinn to Perkins

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI— A driver was arrested for multiple felonies after he led the Forsyth Township Police Department on a chase into Delta County.

On Friday, officers saw a man wanted on several outstanding warrants and attempted to make a traffic stop in Gwinn. The suspect took off, driving south on M-35. He eventually entered Delta County, near Perkins. The Delta County Sheriff's Office and MSP Gladstone Post assisted in the pursuit and deployed stop sticks near Perkins. They succeeded in stopping the suspect vehicle.

The driver faces the following outstanding warrants:

· Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder—Forsyth PD

· Home Invasion, 2nd Degree—Forsyth PD

· Destruction of property—Forsyth PD

· Domestic assault, 2nd offense—Forsyth PD

· Domestic assault/stalking, 2nd offense—Marquette PD

· Fail to appear in court (operating while intoxicated—Dickinson County

· Fail to appear in court (show cause hearing)—Menominee County

· Fail to pay child support—Marquette County

· Probation violation—Marquette County

· Resist and obstruct police—Marquette County

The driver also had the following full-extradition warrants out of the State of Colorado:

· Felony menacing-real/simulated weapon—Jefferson County, Colorado

· Telephone obstruction/domestic violence—Jefferson County, Colorado

Additional charges for fleeing and eluding, obstruction, and driving with a suspended license will also be submitted to the Marquette County Prosecutor's Office for review.

Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday in Marquette County District Court.

Assisting Forsyth Township Police in the incident were the Delta County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police from the Gladstone and Negaunee Posts, an MSP K-9, Marquette City Police, and the Marquette and Delta County Dispatch Centers.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
