Suspect in Masonville Township shooting incident hospitalized, victim uninjured

MASONVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI— Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post are investigating a neighbor dispute involving a firearm in Masonville Township.

Troopers were dispatched around noon Saturday to two Stonington Peninsula residences that share a driveway. The neighbors that use the driveway were arguing over road maintenance when one of them—a 79-year-old man—produced a baseball bat and a gun. He fired multiple times at the victim—a 67-year-old man. None of the bullets hit the victim.

Troopers say the victim used a small tractor to pin the suspect to the ground until police arrived. The suspect was taken to UPHS-Marquette, where he remains hospitalized.
