MSP arrests Chippewa County man for child sexually abusive activity, extortion

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A Sault Ste. Marie man has been arrested by Michigan State Police on charges related to child pornography.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force says an investigation was launched after Marquis Harmon, 20, was caught viewing child sexually abusive material online. A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of digital evidence.

Harmon is charged with child sexually abusive activity and extortion. He was arraigned in 91st District Court last Thursday.

Harmon faces up to 20 years in prison on each charge, if convicted.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
